Our History
Years ago, a young girl woke up early to get ready for school. She had no idea it would be the last time she embraced her mom and dad. She was in the 10th grade, and she had been walking the same route to school for years. But on that particular morning, while crossing the street, she was struck by a vehicle and killed instantly.
At her funeral, her father asked a heartbreaking question:
“Is there any good citizen here? What I am going through—I don’t want anyone else to experience. If there are good citizens, please, for God’s sake, build a school in our community so our children don’t have to walk miles just to get an education.”
One of the attendees stood up and said, “God willing, I will build a school and a place for the community to worship—one stone, two birds.”
Soon after, he began the work and built both a school and a church.
For years, he carried the responsibility alone. Eventually, God blessed him with a good job. Unfortunately, in 2017, he lost that job. Because of this, he considered closing the school or reducing the number of children it served.
When my wife and I learned about the situation, we stepped in to help keep the school open. For the past nine years, with God’s help, we have done everything we can to keep that young girl’s memory alive. Financially, it has not been easy. At times, other family members have stepped in and donated generously.
We remain committed to this mission because many of these children are desperate for opportunity. They are intelligent, capable, and full of potential—just like any other child in the world. They deserve a chance. And because of the work being done, many people in that community now acknowledge Jesus Christ as God and Savior.
As the Scripture says, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).

Many believe that education transforms a child into a citizen of the world. Fritz Gérald Kennedy emphasized this truth when he said, “A child with education has thousands of fathers; likewise, a child without education is fatherless.”
Education Promised, but Not Delivered
Haitian law makes it crystal clear that the state is responsible for every child’s education up to high school. Unfortunately, the government does not enforce these legal requirements. As a result, many children are unable to attend school due to financial hardship.
James 1:26–27
Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
These children have great potential—they simply need a chance and a helping hand.
